When I first started my journey as a brand photographer, I met the incredible Nicole from Nicci & Lu and she became one of my first ever product photography clients! At the time, she was specialising in personalised leather products but had started to dip her toe into the baby gifting world - and my gooooodness, does this lady have an eye for gifting!
When we first met (all the waaaay back in 2020), she had a beautiful stall in Joondalup shopping centre and spoke about her dream of expanding to a bigger space. She wanted to create a space that was not only a beautiful gift shop, but a safe space for mums & bubs to play and relax. You could tell this idea lit a fire in her belly, and I just knew from the moment on - she would do anything in her power to make that dream a reality. And here we are, 3 years later and the most beautiful gifting boutique and cafe is now open in Wangara - and I couldn't be more proud of Nicci & Lu.
I felt so incredibly honoured to be invited into the space to capture all the beautiful details the team had worked so hard to create. And from the second I walked in, it felt like home. The space is warm, welcoming & inviting - with every single corner so aesthetically styled and full of incredible gifting pieces. You can feel Nicoles passion for beautiful things singing out to you from the moment you arrive.
Not only is it a beautiful gift store, it has a play area for the little ones too! The soft play area collaboration with Modern Play Perth is perfectly accompanied by a play kitchen with all the toys - my little girl Kennedy was absolutely obsessed with this space (so much so we went and got her a play kitchen for her first birthday!).
And of course the way to a mama's heart - a cafe! The cafe is called Marzipan which was inspired by Nicole's Mum! As kids, Nicole and her sisters used to call their mum Marzipan. It's one of her favourite treats so Nicole thought it would be the perfect touch to have a little bit of her Mum in the space! And what a beautiful touch it is too. With barista made drinks, and a fridge full of delicious treats - you know this was a highlight of the trip for me. The perfect addition to an already perfect space.
Nicole is not only an incredible mama herself, but is one of the most hard working and inspiring people I've ever met. She has the kindest heart and will always go out of her way to help mama's & biz owners. I've had the pleasure of watching her two little ones grow into kind humans just like their mama - and I feel like every single time I visit Nicci and Lu, or we have a shoot together - it feels like I'm part of their family too. It's truly so so special.
